In September 2010, Apple had released its latest line of iPod. And among these products is the new iPod nano sixth generation (6th gen).
Hailing its name, the 6th Generation iPod Nano (at $149) is Apple’s smallest item to be produced, measuring an inch and a half square, with 0.35 inches of thickness. Upon primary assessment of the device, the most obvious change is the mini touchscreen that measures 1.5 inches diagonally with a pixel resolution of 240x240.
The strongest attribute of iPod nano has always been its simplicity of purpose, and it had never been evident until this new device has come to being. Since Apple has ditched the video camera and video playback, along with the "extra" features (contacts, calendars, notes, games), you are left with music and picture browsing – and that’s it.
With regards to sound quality, Apple seemed to have made some imperative improvements over the last generation. Bass feels fuller and deeper, and highs are less cutting than on most players. Thus, for a player of this price and size, it is safe to say that the iPod Nano 6th Generation performs excellently!
Along with the drastic hardware overhaul, Apple has affixed the media player with a brand new operating system as well – an interface that looks and plays more like an iOS rather than an iPod. This OS and the Multi-Touch feature are what makes iPhone, iPad and iPod touch work so well, and now it’s on the Nano! The screen is filled with iPhone-like icons that are arranged in sets of four, spread out across multiple home screens, similar to iOS devices.
